we had a good weekend... the lauren went on her first sleepover party and so we rented a hotel downtown (well, Vinings) and then did slow shopping, hiking, etc... then went to emerson for the egg hunt. she found a snake on the egg hunt :)

setting up a fish tank for us... replaced her fish that were evicerated by the filter in the pink tank with a beta.

she also had a creepy bunny cupcake as did her dad... the grocery store scares me some days.

so here are the latest dumb reasons for being a denier:
1. it is a recession (a poll of americans)
2. i believed in it until i saw how much it could cost to fix it (a not to be named member of congress)
3. it will get rid of jobs
4. it is a left wing conspiricy to make people believe in science

daily gratitudes:

Gratitude

Article on Gratitude. It basically says people with a positive outlook on life have less depression and other health complaints.

The article's author, Ocean Robbin's says to do the following (quoted from the referenced Huffington Post article)
1) Keep a daily journal of three things you are thankful for. This works well first thing in the morning, or just before you go to bed.

2) Make it a practice to tell a spouse, partner or friend something you appreciate about them every day.

3) Look in the mirror when you are brushing your teeth, and think about something you have done well recently or something you like about yourself.

So i have fallen off the daily gratitude wagon...

Here are mine for today:
1. we lived thru the tornado. everyone worked together and were able to get thru it. Also I was able to QUICKLY pack a bag to take as a just in case, and didnt feel regret or attachment to stuff... the bag contained the following: work computer, iPad, boline, necklace, and goddess owl statue. and i would have taken the cats and the humans of course. was glad that the other humans didnt have similar issue and attachments. all had a small bag, that was it.

2. enjoying blogging about spirituality, teaching classes on spirituality for the emerson children, and taking my own classes.

3. made muffins for the team and everyone was happy

4. was able to be honest with someone about hard stuff, and i think things will be better from it.

Um... yeah...

And in other news EVERYONE is noticing the weird energy for the last few weeks. it appeared on the NGS boards. Someone postulted it is weather related... that during the seasonal change, plants act differently, and it takes a while to adjust to that (ie right b4 the next season... that is maybe why mutable signs are not as connected to the world as other signs? ) and with how phrentetic the weather has been....

March of Dimes

Hi everyone—

Every year a group of my friends and coworkers walk in the March of Dimes March for Babies. This is a great event for a wonderful charity that helps many children! Please support us by walking with us or making a donation on the website here:

http://www.marchforbabies.org/personal_page.asp?pp=3627936&ct=4&w=5244002&u=spiggycat

Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick.

I′m walking in March for Babies because I want to do something about this. And I need your help.

Please support my walk. Making a secure donation is easy: just click the 'donate now' button on this page.

Thank you for helping me give all babies a healthy start!

The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

Your gift will support March of Dimes research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. And it will be used to bring comfort and information to families with a baby in newborn intensive care.

The pre-paid rash

So I still have a rash. It is on my face, and is very itchy. Doctor gave me antibiotics to try to clear up the rash, but she think it is just hormonal and stress, but in the off chance it works, it may go away. However, my luck is that it will not, and i will just get the runs and other happy side effects (like death from liver failure, as so nicely stated in the antibiotic warning page... i keep checking my skin and am scared b/c it is yellow... well, i am a bleep bleep drow,,, so go figure.) I know that rashes are not the biggest deal in the world-- as there are people who live on less than a dollar a day in the slums of the not-really developing world, and there are people with cancer, and missing limbs... but i have a rash. i am vain, therefore i am in turmoil.

so, due to the death from liver failure warning, i cannot drink the very cool and spiffy tea that I purchased from Cat and Lotus Metaphysical Supply because it contans a diurettic. Nor can I partake in a good bottle of Toscana. I just have to suffer with the rash without help.

Notice, I did not say "suffer in silence". I do not do ANYTHING in silence (hence, the bad meditator comments), especially not suffer a rash. I have in fact done the opposite. I have told everyone who will listen that i have a rash, i hate having a rash, whose fault the rash is, the grave injustices the world has thrust upon me by giving me this rash, and worst of all that it itches. I even waylaid a poor co-worked to make him admire my rash in all my martyrish glory as i proclaimed that the rash came from helping out with one of our work tasks.

In other news, this is interesting:
http://un-granola.com/
It is a restaurant review site for veg places! Awesomeness.

Also, one of my fav blogs stopped and i was kind of in a slump for a few days. I understand why (person got a life :) ) but it was sad.

2 things.

Everyone complains about not getting enough protein, so i created the following smoothie
1 scoop Rainbow Light Protein (15 gram protein)
1 scoop Wheatgrass (~10g protein)
1 cup mung bean sprouts (8 g protein)
1/2 cup strawberries
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cucumber
1 cup almond milk (1g protein)
1 tsp agave nectar

mix in blender/ Vitamix on high for 1 1/2 minutes. Will fit in 2 *$ travel mugs.

Below is a picture of me doing Ardo Chandrasana (1/2 moon). I really like using the iPhone 4 to video my yoga poses, shows what i need to work on. I see that i am a lot stronger on the left after my foot misadventure. Also, notice the sleeping cat and the weather channel in the background... I am such a nerd.

have teh crampz... did some easy exercises and tracked in fitocracy, which did not help the cramps at all... cleaned a bit, then laid in bed with a warm cat, which did help a lot. Have been on some calls today, and watched thed rain out the window... found my glasses which was a plus...

going to do Imbolc celebration w/ DOTL and the Lauren tonight... Hope rain stops. Also trying to figure out what to make for dinner.. Assuming some sort of cakes and ale (literally) thinking of carrot cupcakes, a good ale, roasted sweet potatoes with a "honey butter" sauce (earth balance spread, some agave nectar, a little salt and maybe a drop of mollasses), green beans with garlic oil, and black bean burgers/ seitan with gravy/ unsure of the protein course.

lunch was comfort food-- spinach salad with avocado and an egg (still trying to get off the eggs)

DOD adopted a cat. she is a tonkanese ... very cute, but made me miss Aszdra a lot... The lauren and I almost adopted Mabel the Maine Coon from Petsmart the next day...
